As previously mentioned, with me back on the road and the kids planning their own overseas adventures it did feel like we were all heading in different directions and it was going to be a new experience for Marianne to be on her own, so understandably we were all feeling a bit uncertain about what lay ahead.
Thankfully, before the kids head off, we found five days where we could all be in the same place at the same time, and to make matters better this was one of our favourite places on earth. A place where we’ve spent many happy family holidays over the past ten years, and a time and place that was an appropriate point of departure before we all head off in different directions over the next few months.
This place is an unassuming little granny flat on the outskirts of Milton called Breezy Brae, and over the years the owners Kevin and Kelli, and their two boys George and Harry have become like family to us. So it was here that we met the week before Easter, and the planets, even the moon, seemed to align and we had a wonderful time together, as a family, enjoying each others company and doing things that we all love doing!
For whatever reason we hadn’t been back for a couple of years and it came as a bit of a shock to see how much the boys had grown up, ironically George is now at high school and is the same age as Hewie was when we first stayed here, but other than that it was reassuring to see and feel that nothing much else had changed and the familiarity felt good. To know that as much as some things change, other things stay the same!
We did some of our favourite things…
Walks on the beach with Louie (our little schnauzer who was responsible for us finding Breezy Brae)…
Surfing…
Eating & Drinking…
Revisiting some of our favourite places, including Depot Beach and Pigeonhouse…
Enjoying some amazing sun rises…
and equally spectacular sunsets, we even got a full moon rising over the ocean (a week before Easter?)…
and then, after dinner on Monday night, it was time for me to leave…
…and as much as I’m looking forward to the next stage of my journey I can’t wait to see everyone again in the middle of the year!
