For those of us fortunate enough to arrive here, there comes a time when the road ahead seems less defined that the paths we have travelled to get us to this point. Up until now the arc of our lives seemed somewhat predictable and in most cases driven by our genetic imperative to have a family and advance our career.
Then, seemingly all of a sudden, we realise time has caught up with us and to an extent we have lost our relevance and purpose.
Our kids have grown up and become increasingly independent, our partners seem to be getting on with their lives and our role in the family seems less clear. At the same time we are finishing or at least winding down our careers and we realise that work wasn't just about a pay check but it provided a framework and status.
Now, we seem to have the time we never had before and we are spending more of it on our own, and feeling connected and motivated has never felt so important.
I hope that by sharing my experiences on point2pointless.com I can inspire others who have arrived at a similar cross-roads to reinvent themselves and find new meaning and fulfillment in the latter stages of their lives.
Over time I'd like to create a collaborative online community of people who have faced this challenge and found that their life's experiences and the wisdom they have gained can be applied to new challenges and adventures, and through this they can find new purpose and passion in the things they can do, not only for themselves but for others.
We have earnt this reward and there's a lot we can do to share, support, mentor and inspire other people like us, or those less fortunate.
